Been meaning to ask this. Been living here since 2010. Median household income is $76,009, which feels about average for the area. Poverty rate is 6.1%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What do you all think? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Chicago it's better than expected.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely decent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (South) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
