Best and worst neighborhoods in Grosse Pointe Woods

Hey, We're a young couple and The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What do you all think? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in South area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Maple Ridge. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Moved here from San Francisco about 13 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to pet-friendliness but No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..
