Longtime lurker here, I work in retail and It's a a small town city with about 16,177 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Grosse Pointe Woods sits at 162.9 per 100K. The median home value here is around $322,500, which seems about average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I overthinking this? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much growing but now it's average.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in North for 8 years. Moved from Austin for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Dating scene is rough. And job market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
