Not sure if this has been asked before, but Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Let me know your thoughts. Any help is appreciated.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Minneapolis it's challenging.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is decent in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 4 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is community vibe. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely pretty good and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The housing market is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Bought a house here in 2024 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much established but now it's solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Baltimore about 13 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is improving.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.
