Best neighborhoods to rent in Grover Beach?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm originally from Memphis and With a population of 12,687, Grover Beach is a small town. The unemployment rate is 2.2%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $691,900, which is pretty steep. Household incomes average around $82,534 in Grover Beach. Homes are going for about $691,900 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Pros:
- Low crime in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Limited nightlife
- Far from major airports
- Limited cultural events
What neighborhoods would you suggest? Thanks in advance! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 53, moved here 10 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Maple Ridge and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The food scene situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for singles. solid vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
