Moving from Seattle to Groveton next month

Not sure if this has been asked before, but The weather takes some getting used to. Thoughts? The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 3 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in The Heights for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The healthcare scene is improving

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Dallas it's average.

Used to live on the Riverside side, now on the Downtown side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is underrated in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 56, moved here 15 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in Highland and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The weather situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for remote workers. average vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $40K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Cedar Grove. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Italian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
