I've lived in Riverside for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The weather scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Tampa it's surprisingly good.
