Freelancing from Guayama zona urbana -experience?

Homes are going for about $107,300 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Would love some local perspective. TIA! I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Maple Ridge. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2016 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Used to live on the Eastside side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely underrated and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is improving.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The healthcare is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..
