Hi all, Been living here since 2014. Rent is about $981/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $53,936, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 4 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Bought a house here in 2021 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from San Francisco about 6 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is solid.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The healthcare is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.
