Gulfport vs Dallas -which is better?

Alright, I relocated for work and Median household income is $68,617, which feels about average for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,487 for rent here. Rent is about $1,487/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $335,100, which seems about average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Plenty of shopping options
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Boring for young people
- Poor road conditions
People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 54, moved here 11 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Midtown and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Nice parks and green spaces
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The traffic situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for families. improving vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $70K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.
