Gulfport is underrated, change my mind

I'm retired and Average temperature is around 68--F, so the weather is moderate. The median home value here is around $167,100, which is actually reasonable. Crime rate is something to consider -Gulfport sits at 326.0 per 100K. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Bought a house here in 2019 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in retail. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Hope this helps!.
