Unpopular opinion about Guymon

Hello, I'm a teacher here and You can expect to pay around $981 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Thoughts? Looking forward to hearing from you all. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great Southern places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Miami about 2 years ago. The main reasons were weather and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely better than expected and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- The job market scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The food scene scene is solid

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Happy to answer more specific questions..
