Best and worst neighborhoods in Hacienda Heights

Hello, I work in manufacturing and With a population of 54,956, Hacienda Heights is a smaller city. Rent is about $2,247/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Growing food scene
- Easy commute
- Strong sense of community
- Active local events

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Not very walkable
- Limited dining options
- Limited cultural events
Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 25, moved here 8 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Summers can be brutally hot
3. The cost of living situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for retirees. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Sunset for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The pet-friendliness scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Winters are long and cold

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
