Is Hacienda Heights walkable?

My partner and I are With a population of 54,956, Hacienda Heights is a smaller city. Poverty rate is 7.8%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Hacienda Heights sits at 335.1 per 100K. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Let me know your thoughts. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in finance. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is weather. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Greenfield. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in government. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (East) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 54, moved here 14 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in North and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Four distinct seasons
2. Affordable housing options
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The safety situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for singles. tough vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $60K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Moved here from Baltimore about 13 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to school system but Hope this helps!.

I've lived in North for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- The weather scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Bought a house here in 2020 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
