Crime rate is something to consider -Hacienda Heights sits at 335.1 per 100K. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

Bought a house here in 2016 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much established but now it's pretty good.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a data analyst, 44, moved here 10 years ago from Austin. I've lived in Westside and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Close to major attractions
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The healthcare situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for young professionals. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Used to live on the Uptown side, now on the Pine Hills side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Austin about 5 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is tough.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'm a HR manager and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.
