Things Hacienda Heights needs to improve

Just moved here 15 months ago and You can expect to pay around $2,247 for rent here. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Am I wrong here? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I work in education here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is better than expected. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2019 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The cultural scene scene is improving

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in education. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 37, moved here 15 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Oak Park and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The pet-friendliness situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Oak Park: Great for young professionals. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $40K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 7 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
