Longtime lurker here, With a population of 31,156, Haines City is a smaller city. The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Springfield for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- The housing market scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.
