Random thought, You can expect to pay around $1,216 for rent here. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Does this match your experience? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I've lived in South for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Diverse dining options
- The housing market scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Highland for 3 years. Moved from Nashville for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
finance is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Road conditions need improvement. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 7/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2016 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Used to live on the Eastside side, now on the Westside side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.
