Been meaning to ask this. Born and raised here. Poverty rate is 7.8%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. Should I be concerned? Any help is appreciated. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The traffic is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely average and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Highland) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
