Planning a move to Halawa -neighborhoods?

First post here. I'm a college student here and Household incomes average around $102,987 in Halawa. You can expect to pay around $1,619 for rent here. Median household income is $102,987, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $1,005,400 on average. Average temperature is around 78--F, so it's warm year-round. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in The Heights. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Houston about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is underrated.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The pet-friendliness is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much stable but now it's average.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 1 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Houston about 1 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is improving.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
