Anyone else feel this way? I'm a teacher here and Crime rate is something to consider -Haledon sits at 374.5 per 100K. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What would you do? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Used to live on the Downtown side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 10 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Riverside area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.
