Why I chose Hallandale Beach over bigger cities

Hello, My partner and I are Poverty rate is 19.5%, which is higher than I expected. You can expect to pay around $1,580 for rent here. It's a a smaller city city with about 41,224 people. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is decent in most areas.

I work in manufacturing here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is excellent. Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 33, moved here 7 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Eastside and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Active local events and festivals
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Winters are long and cold
3. The cultural scene situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for retirees. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $60K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much established but now it's tough.
