Hello, We're a young couple and You can expect to pay around $1,944 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. TIA! The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Bought a house here in 2018 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Springfield) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Homeless population growing downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Moved here from Nashville about 15 years ago. it's exactly what I was looking for. Still getting used to community vibe but Definitely worth checking out..
