Anyone else feel this way? I'm a remote worker and The median home value here is around $194,600, which is actually reasonable. With a population of 45,681, Haltom City is a smaller city. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Lakewood. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in legal. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 8 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
