Is Hamilton getting better or worse?

So, We're a young couple and It's a a small town city with about 4,038 people. You can expect to pay around $1,123 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 0.7%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,123/month for a decent place. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Pros:
- Close to nature
- Strong sense of community
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Limited dining options
- Poor road conditions
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homelessness issues downtown
Worth the trade-offs? Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely excellent and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (The Heights) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The weather is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
