I grew up here but left for a while. Crime rate is something to consider -Hamilton sits at 426.4 per 100K. With a population of 63,124, Hamilton is a smaller city. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. Worth the trade-offs?

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Midtown area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

I work in consulting here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is tough. Definitely worth checking out..

Bought a house here in 2024 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 15 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'm a teacher and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a data analyst, 46, moved here 7 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Midtown and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The housing market situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for families. improving vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$130K here.
**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
