Not sure if this has been asked before, but I grew up here but left for a while. Poverty rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $376,900, which seems about average. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The job market scene is decent
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.
