Hammond in the winter -how bad?
Anyone else feel this way? Been living here since 2024. Household incomes average around $53,950 in Hammond. Homes are going for about $141,700 on average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Anyone in a similar situation? The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.
