Hey everyone, We're a young couple and Household incomes average around $53,950 in Hammond. Poverty rate is 14.9%, which is around average. It's a a smaller city city with about 77,098 people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.
Pros:

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Rising rent prices
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Homelessness issues downtown
Any advice would be great. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up.
