Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 5 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely tough and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Eastside) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Portland about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is underrated.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. No regrets on my end..

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much developing but now it's underrated.
