Crime rate is something to consider — Hampton sits at 295.1 per 100K. It's a a mid-size city city with about 137K people. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Am I wrong here? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Springfield area are solid. Kids love it here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

I work in retail here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is solid. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community vibe is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 7 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
