Moving from San Diego to Hamtramck next month

Hello, Born and raised here. You can expect to pay around $907 for rent here. With a population of 27,830, Hamtramck is a smaller city. Rent is about $907/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 5.4%, which is about average. Poverty rate is 34.0%, which is higher than I expected. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Any advice would be great. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services.
