Anyone else feel this way? I'm originally from Portland and The median home value here is around $142,400, which is actually reasonable. Average temperature is around 64--F, so the weather is moderate. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Has anyone dealt with this?

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- The housing market scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
