First post here. I'm a nurse at the local hospital and It's a a small town city with about 1,745 people. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What are your go-to spots? Thanks in advance! It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The community vibe is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in North. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for work and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The job market is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 13 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The healthcare is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
