Just moved to Harahan, any tips?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a teacher here and Average temperature is around 72--F, so it's warm year-round. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 1 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Dallas it's solid.

I've lived in Westside for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- The healthcare scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Hope this helps!.

Bought a house here in 2015 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
- The cultural scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Fairview for 2 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Can feel isolated. And safety can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 7/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

No regrets on my end..
