Came here for work and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The public transit is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Pine Hills side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in South. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in government. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Fairview) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Fairview for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- The community vibe scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Baltimore about 10 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is tough.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Austin about 4 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Diverse dining options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is average.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
