What's it really like living in Harker Heights?

So, Poverty rate is 9.3%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 67--F, so the weather is moderate. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What are your go-to spots? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons
- The safety scene is improving

The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Baltimore about 10 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is decent.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 5 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
