So, Just moved here 11 months ago and With a population of 71,669, Harlingen is a smaller city. Rent is about $893/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 19.9%, which is higher than I expected. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Let me know your thoughts. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in South. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Southern.
