Been meaning to ask this. Military spouse here. Median household income is $55,891, which feels about average for the area. Average temperature is around 76--F, so it's warm year-round. Poverty rate is 19.9%, which is higher than I expected. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Worth the trade-offs? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The community vibe is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely excellent and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Westside) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 6 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Nashville about 12 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is challenging.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
