What's it really like living in Harlingen?
So, It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Lakewood. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in tech. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like seafood.
No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Raleigh it's excellent.

Bought a house here in 2017 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
