Raising a family in Harmony -thoughts?

With a population of 1,218, Harmony is a small town. The unemployment rate is 9.5%, which is concerning. Household incomes average around $88,472 in Harmony. It's a a small town city with about 1,218 people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Low crime in most areas
- Close to nature

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Hot summers
- Rising rent prices
- Limited nightlife
- Poor road conditions
I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 8 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Seattle about 2 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is solid.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. No regrets on my end..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..
