Been living here since 2012. Rent is about $1,306/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $143,600 on average. Poverty rate is 14.6%, which is around average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Any advice would be great. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 11 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
