Housing market in Harriman right now

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a 40-year-old restaurant manager and Median household income is $42,183, which feels on the lower side for the area. Household incomes average around $42,183 in Harriman. Rent is about $737/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $162,500 on average. You can expect to pay around $737 for rent here. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Good schools
- Low taxes

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Not very walkable
- High property taxes
- Lack of diversity
- Boring for young people
Does this match your experience? TIA! The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Austin it's challenging.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Greenfield area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in construction. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
