Thinking about relocating to Harrisburg from Memphis

OK so With a population of 50,092, Harrisburg is a smaller city. The unemployment rate is 6.3%, which is concerning. It's a a smaller city city with about 50,092 people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What do you all think? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Lakewood. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in consulting. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
