How is Harrison for outdoor activities?

Hi all, I've been here for 9 years and Homes are going for about $1,001,900 on average. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. What would you do? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in The Heights. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Sunset for 12 years. Moved from Nashville for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Homeless population growing downtown. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 9/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely challenging and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Westside) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
