Hey everyone, I'm a teacher here and Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. It's a a smaller city city with about 29,279 people. Rent is about $2,585/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Worth the trade-offs? Any help is appreciated. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Came here for family and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The housing market is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Meadowbrook for 10 years. Moved from Austin for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
government is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Chain restaurants dominate. And public transit can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
