First time home buyer in Harrison

Been meaning to ask this. Military spouse here. With a population of 13,345, Harrison is a small town. Household incomes average around $118,047 in Harrison. The median home value here is around $314,200, which seems about average. Poverty rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Nice parks and trails
- Close to nature
- Easy commute
- Active local events

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Boring for young people
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homelessness issues downtown
People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 9 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.
