Pros and cons of Harrison after 14 years
Hey everyone, The median home value here is around $314,200, which seems about average. Thoughts?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been in Midtown for 13 years. Moved from Austin for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Far from beaches/mountains. And safety can be frustrating.

I've been here 1 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into running, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much growing but now it's pretty good.
