Thinking about relocating to Harrisonburg from Nashville

Hey everyone, We have two kids and Rent is about $1,120/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Harrisonburg sits at 205.9 per 100K. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What would you do? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The housing market is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 14 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
