Is Harrisonville a good place to live?

First post here. The unemployment rate is 5.0%, which is about average. Crime rate is something to consider -Harrisonville sits at 277.4 per 100K. It's a a small town city with about 10,002 people. Homes are going for about $190,300 on average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Has anyone dealt with this? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 2 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 51, moved here 4 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in Riverside and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Good healthcare facilities
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The weather situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for young professionals. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $50K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Moved here from Salt Lake City about 4 years ago. I genuinely enjoy living here. Still getting used to walkability but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
